Ear Surgery for Lexi

June 11th, 2010-So Lexi has had countless ear infections over the last year and it finally got to the point where she needed tubes put in her ears. So we tried to explain as best we could to Lexi what would happen. We even did a puppet show the morning of to show her that a mask would be put on her to put her to sleep. The doctors got a kick out of the puppet show and wanted to start one of their own because Lexi didn't even cry, as all kids do, when the mask was put on. This was a little house in the waiting room for kids to play in. Lexi loved it.

Inside the play house Jer, Lexi, and I played with the Lego table.

We bought Lexi a toy to play with. (We didn't know they would have kid toys) My parents always bought me toys when I had surgeries.

Just like when she was born, we each got a bracelet to wear.

Lexi's nurse was named Audrey. She was super nice and very impressed at how good Lexi was.

They took Lexi's blood pressure through her leg, weird. She got a shirt to wear during the surgery and to take home that said super patient.

The doctor, nurse, and anesthesiologist carrying away our little girl. She did fantastic and the surgery was quick and easy. Grandma even bought her two yellow balloons.

  1. I didn't know she got tubes! Have you tried chiropractic as well? I knew a lady whose son got ear infections ALL the time and she got him adjusted several times and he actually ended up not needing tubes or surgery. It cleared the earway I guess. I also read that they can do laser surgery for the ears now if the kids repeatedly need tubes. Pretty cool stuff!
